Uganda Coffee Development Authority participated in the AFCCA Annual Conference and Exhibition in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from 2nd -5th February 2016 at the New Landmark Conference and Exhibition Centrewhere Uganda’s finest coffees were showcased to attract buyers from international to buy coffee from Uganda so that farmers can earn premium prices.
The Ugandan delegates, led by the Managing Director, Mr. Henry Ngabirano who also scooped the AFCA “Lifetime Achievement Award” in recognition of his dedication, support and contributions made toward the development of the coffee industry in Uganda, Africa and the world at large. In addition, the UCDA sponsored candidate emerged as the 2nd runner-upIn the Barista Championships.

The delegation participated and took part in a number of conference and exhibition activities. These included: Attending Conference presentations, Exhibition of Uganda’s green coffee, Africa Taste of Harvest cupping, Cupping samples of Uganda coffee at the UCDA pavilion, Africa Barista Championship competitions and other complimentary activities like Coffee farm field visits.

The African Fine Coffees Association (AFCA) is a regional nonprofit, nonpolitical, member-driven association representing coffee sectors in 11 member countries namely;Burundi, D.R.Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi,Rwanda, SouthAfrica, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The major topics of discussion included the Tanzania Coffee Industry, The World Coffee Market, Quality not Quantity – The Ferrari Model for Coffee Farming, African Coffee Market, Access to improved coffee varieties & Soil fertility challenges & Solutions for Smallholder coffee farmers, Climate Mitigation Strategies, Vision 2020.
