Uganda made a bold and unforgettable mark at the World of Coffee Expo in San Diego USA. From exceptional specialty lots to innovative processing methods and vibrant cultural storytelling, Uganda’s presence stood out on the global stage.

Producers, exporters, baristas, and innovators showcased the depth and diversity of Ugandan coffee-demonstrating why the country continues to rise as a powerhouse in specialty production.

Visitors were captivated by the unique profiles of Robusta and Arabica coffee from regions like Mt. Elgon, Rwenzori, and West Nile.

Ugandan delegation included officials from the Embassy of Uganda in Washington D.C, Secretary General of IACO, Uganda registered coffee export companies, and MAAIF staff led by the Assistant Commissioner for Quality Assurance, Mr. Gordon Katwirenabo.

This year’s expo reaffirmed what the world is beginning to recognize: Uganda is not just participating in the global coffee conversation it is leading it.....

The Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Anita Among today toured MAAIF Village at the ongoing 2026 Harvest Money Expo in Kololo, where she engaged with scientists from the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF).

She expressed delight at the clear and practical explanations offered by the scientists, noting the importance of their innovations in driving Uganda’s agricultural transformation.

The Speaker commended MAAIF for showcasing technologies that empower farmers, enhance food security, and strengthen the agricultural value chain.

She was accompanied by the Under Secretary, Mrs. Aacha Mary Orikiriza and the Assistant Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mrs. Consolata Acayo.

Her visit underscores Parliament’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote modern farming practices and sustainable agricultural development.

Uganda’s coffee sector took centre stage at the African Fine Coffees Association (AFCA) Conference and Expo 2026, with the country showcasing its growing strength, diversity, and global relevance at Africa’s premier coffee forum.
Participating through the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), Uganda highlighted its position as Africa’s leading coffee exporter and one of the world’s top producers of Robusta coffee, alongside a fast-expanding Arabica segment. Uganda’s presence attracted strong interest from international buyers, roasters, traders, and development partners.

Uganda’s exhibition stand featured a wide range of coffees from different Agro-ecological zones, drawing attention to the country’s distinct flavour profiles, improved quality standards, and increasing consistency in supply.

The prominence of Uganda Coffee was further elevated by a visit from the Ethiopian Prime Minister, who toured the Uganda Coffee Booth and interacted with sector officials.

Beyond the exhibition, Uganda actively participated in high-level policy dialogues and technical sessions focused on climate resilience, quality enhancement, market access, and value addition.

Another highlight of the conference came during the closing ceremony, where Uganda won the Africa barista competition with both the overall winner and the 1st runner up positions.

And to cap it off, Uganda was officially announced as the host of the AFCA Conference and Expo 2027—further cementing the country’s leadership role in Africa’s coffee industry.

Uganda Earns UGX 8.2 Trillion From Coffee Exports In 12 Months... ucda Mon, 12/15/2025 - 10:17

Uganda’s coffee exports for the last twelve months (November 2024-October 2025) have totaled 8.4 million bags worth US$ 2.4 billion (UGX 8.2 Trillion) compared to 5.8 million bags worth US$ 1.3 billion (UGX 4.88 trillion) in the previous year (November 2023-October 2024). This represents an increase of 46.96% and 77.33% in quantity and value respectively.

This revelation is contained in the just-released Ministry of Agriculture’s Monthly Coffee Report for October 2025.

According to the report, Uganda’s coffee exports in October 2025, totaled to 685,720 bags worth US$ 185.56 million (UGX 642.7 billion). This comprised of 597,925, bags of Robusta valued at US$ 151.51 million (UGX 524.8 billion) and 87,795 bags of Arabica valued at US$ 34.04 million (UGX 117.93 billion).

This was an increase of 38% and 33% in quantity and value respectively compared to the same month last year. Compared to the same month of last year (October 2024), Robusta increased by 31% and 19% in quantity and value respectively, and Arabica exports increased by 117% and 182% in quantity and value respectively.

Uganda has achieved the highest coffee export levels in its history, marking a new milestone in the nation’s agricultural and economic growth.

According to new figures from the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, the country exported a record 8.2 million 60-kilogram bags of coffee in the past year, earning US$ 2.3 billion (UGX 8.1 trillion) a 64% increase in value and 30% rise in volume compared to the previous year.

The record performance firmly establishes Uganda as Africa’s number one coffee exporter, with 844,949 bags worth US$ 218.6 million shipped in September alone a 56% increase in quantity and 48% rise in value year-on-year.

Building on this global success, Uganda is now taking its story of growth, sustainability, and adventure to the Swiss International Holiday Expo (SIHE) 2025 in Lugano, Switzerland, running from October 31 to November 2, 2025.

Uganda’s participation its first at Switzerland’s premier tourism and lifestyle exhibition is being coordinated by the Permanent Mission of Uganda to the United Nations in Geneva, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), and the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA).

The country’s showcase, themed “From Bean to Beauty: Experience Uganda,” celebrates the harmony between Uganda’s coffee heritage, cultural richness, and adventure tourism.

“Switzerland is one of the world’s leading coffee trading and consumption markets,” said Ambassador Marcel Tibaleka, Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva.

Coffee excellence: Uganda makes historical leap at 2025 World Barista Championship.
The Pearl of Africa has climbed to 4th position at the World Barista Championship courtesy of outstanding performance by our very own Ibrahim Kiganda in Milan, Italy.

Ibrahim is representing Uganda, having won the national championship with his team from Mountain Harvest.

The World Barista Championship (WBC) is a flagship competition that celebrates the artistry of coffee excellence and significantly elevates the barista profession on a global scale. Each year, more than 50 talented champions from around the globe engage in this prestigious competition, where they meticulously craft four espressos, four milk-based drinks, and four unique signature beverages during highly time-sensitive 15-minute performances.

Uganda's participation in the competition was facilitated by Government through the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries.
