Uganda’s coffee export volumes continue to grow in quantity and value respectively. Despite this growth, Uganda’s full potential as a coffee origin has not been attained, especially by tapping into the specialty and fine coffee segments.
Therefore, the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) is undertaking a program to scale up wet processing and produce commercial volumes in Arabica growing areas, especially on specialty coffee that attracts a higher premium at international markets.
To achieve this, UCDA procured and will distribute wet processing equipment to address the coffee quality challenges and processing needs of commercial farmers, organized farmer groups and business owners who wish to invest in coffee processing.
