Uganda will join the rest of the world to commemorate International Coffee Day on Thursday, October 1, 2020. The theme for this year’s celebration is Uganda Coffee: Resilient through Covid-19 and the New Normal.

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted everyone in the coffee value chain from farmers to processors, exporters, baristas, roasters, coffee shops and beyond. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the coffee sub sector has remained buoyant with coffee exports in July hitting their highest level since liberalization of the economy in 1994.

Unlike previous celebrations this year’s event will be an e-celebration and the main event will be a webinar hosted by Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) from 10am to 12pm on October 1, 2020. The hashtag is #UgandaCoffeeDay2020.

The International Coffee Day Webinar will focus on recognizing and appreciating the contribution of stakeholders along the coffee value chain during this period. It will also focus on the diverse opportunities in coffee agribusiness and the future of coffee. The International Coffee Day is organised by Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) in partnership with Uganda Coffee Federation (UCF).
